Patio a la San Miguel
This condominium had an uneven and dilapidated clay tile patio with astroturf for a green area. The homeowner wanted a rich, vibrant place to entertain guests and a welcoming place to relax after work. The goal was to create several environments within the small space and beautiful, colorful views from every angle. I used several of her existing furnishings with a change in finish color and fabrics and brought in several ornately designed artistic elements from India and Mexico. The patio was replaced with weathered brick and the new block and stucco beehive fireplace and existing gate and walls were painted to enliven the space. Patio sized trees were added to the new planter beds to create shade and cooling for greater year round use and to create a more garden-like environment.
